R is for Rough Patches

In relationships, sometimes things are great and sometimes they suck. Rough patches come and go from time to time but when they last for a long time it can really damage your relationship. It's hard to know what to do for the best sometimes but if your relationship is worth fighting for - take my advice! :D

How to Get Through a Rough Patch in Your Relationship

  1. You've made some good points in your article. The thing to remember when trying to talk rationally to your romantic partner is to be assertive. Use "I" statements and minimize the use of "you" statements.

  2. Rough patches are definitely tough. My last relationship ended when he decided he didn't feel like working on it anymore. There's nothing that can be done when it gets to that point.

  3. Relationships are rarely smooth 100% of the time, just as the ocean is never always calm either.

If it's worth holding on to, disagreements should rarely turn into arguments, and harmony should be restored as soon as possible.

Then of course if you are lucky, and I'm thinking of a Seinfeld episode here, there is always the make up sex...

  4. L.L Woodward - Thanks! I definitely agree with you about being assertive!

Karen - That really sucks. I have had relationships like that too, but I always told myself that the reason for it was that there is someone better waiting for me!

Tony - LOL, I really need to write an article about make up sex! :D
